Managing Multiple Businesses

Managing Multiple Businesses

Category: Shops Reading time: 4 min

If you own or operate more than one grooming shop, Groomera lets you manage multiple business entities from a single owner account — no separate logins required. This guide explains how multi-business management works, how to set it up, and what's shared vs. separate across your locations.

How Multi-Business Management Works

In Groomera, one owner account can hold multiple Business entities. Think of it like this:

Your Owner Account (one login) ├── Business 1: Paws & Clippers — Downtown ├── Business 2: Paws & Clippers — Westside └── Business 3: Bark Avenue Grooming

Each business is completely independent:

  • Its own public storefront URL
  • Its own team of specialists
  • Its own services and pricing
  • Its own booking calendar
  • Its own financial records and reports

You switch between them from your owner dashboard — no logging out and back in.

Plan Requirements

The number of businesses you can create depends on your subscription plan. The base plan typically supports one business. Higher plans unlock additional business slots.

To check your limit:

  1. Go to Settings → Billing
  2. Look for the Max Businesses field on your current plan
  3. If you need more than your current limit allows, upgrade your plan

Visit groomera.com/pricing to compare plans.

Creating a Second Business

  1. Log in to your owner account
  2. Go to Settings or look for a Switch Business / Add Business option in your account menu (usually in the top-right corner of the dashboard)
  3. Click Create New Business
  4. Fill in the business profile form:

- Business name - Username (this will be the storefront URL slug) - Address, hours, contact info - Logo

  1. Save

The new business is created immediately. You'll now see it in your business switcher and can begin setting up its services, specialists, and storefront independently.

Switching Between Businesses

Once you have multiple businesses on your account:

  1. Look for your business name in the top-right corner of the dashboard (or in the sidebar header)
  2. Click it to open the business switcher
  3. Select the business you want to manage
  4. The entire dashboard switches context to that business — calendar, specialists, products, reports, and all

Everything you see after switching is specific to that business. Changes made in one business don't affect the others.

What's Shared vs. Separate

Feature

Shared Across Businesses?

Owner account login

✅ Shared — one login manages all

Subscription and billing

✅ Shared — one plan covers all businesses

Specialists

❌ Separate — each business has its own team

Services

❌ Separate — configured independently per business

Storefront URL

❌ Separate — each business has its own slug

Booking calendar

❌ Separate — calendars are per business

Clients

❌ Separate — client lists don't cross businesses

Reports

❌ Separate — analytics are per business

Products

❌ Separate — inventory is per business

There is no cross-business consolidated reporting in the current version. To compare performance across locations, view reports in each business separately and compare manually (or export CSVs and combine in a spreadsheet).

Managing Specialists Across Locations

A specialist can only be attached to one business at a time in the current version. If a specialist works across two of your locations, you'll need to create a separate specialist profile for them in each business — each with their own login credentials.

For example, if Sarah works at both your Downtown and Westside locations:

  • Create a specialist profile for Sarah in Business 1 with her Downtown schedule
  • Create a second specialist profile for Sarah in Business 2 with her Westside schedule

Each profile can have different availability, commission rates, and service assignments.

Deleting a Business

If you no longer operate a business and want to remove it from your account:

  1. Switch to that business in your dashboard
  2. Go to Settings → Business
  3. Look for a Delete Business or Close Business option
  4. Confirm — this action is permanent
⚠️ Deleting a business permanently removes all its data — bookings, clients, reports, and products. This cannot be undone. If you want to preserve records, export your reports and client data before deleting.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I pay for each business separately? No. Your subscription covers the number of businesses your plan allows. You pay one monthly subscription — not one per business.

Q: Can I have different plans for different businesses? No. Your subscription is at the account level, not the business level. All businesses on your account run under the same plan.

Q: Can two different owners share management of one business? Not in the current version. One business is owned by one account. If you run a partnership, one partner holds the Groomera account. Specialist-level access is available for team members, but owner-level co-access is not currently supported.

Q: Can clients book across multiple businesses from one page? No. Each business has its own separate storefront. A client at your Downtown location books at groomera.com/[zipcode]/downtown-slug; a client at your Westside location books at a different URL. There's no multi-location booking portal in the current version.

Q: Is there a limit on how many businesses I can add? Yes — it's set by your plan tier. Check Settings → Billing for your current maxBusinesses limit. Contact support if your needs exceed the highest available plan.
